Value from Waste

Every family generate about 1-2 kgs of Kitchen waste and they are generally thrown out on the road or given to BBMP in plastic bags as garbage. The waste we throw contains 60% organic waste . This 60%  food waste and vegetable waste generated at home can be converted as a good manure by storing them in a Mud pot called Khambha for about 90 days.  This  process is  called Aerobic Composting. We need to add Micro organism to start the composting process in the mud pot .   If we do not have it a table spoon of Curd will do the same job.

Small pieces of paper, card board also can be added to the compost.  The mud pot needs constant stirring once in two days for aeration to happen.  We have a nice compost after about 90 days which can be used as a manure for our garden. The prices vary from Rs 600 to Rs 1600 as on the date of this letter.
If you do not have a garden, we can pass the manure to a nearby Park.  Shall we help BBMP in solving the garbage problem?  They spend about 450 crores in Garbage Disposal and if we can reduce it by 50%,  the saved amount can be utilized for a better purpose.
